Mapping London’s Gangs

April 28, 2010

Local 2.0 is focusing very much on social media as a tool to support local action, but we would really like to explore more stuff around the use of data. There are lots of good examples out there; one that we have come across is an interactive map that shows the terittorial boundaries of many of London’s gangs.

The developers – an anonymous group of insiders and people in the know – claim that the information is more accurate than that held by the police. At first glance, the maps are really simple to understand and would be an asset to local communities who are struggling to deal with the negative consequences of gang activity.
